Tuning up your PC in an hour!

Many customers and family members have asked me to check out their slow, blue screening, or non-functional machines.  Obviously if it doesn't run I can't do much without being hands on keyboard, but I've decided to put my recommendation list online.

Product	Fixes	Notes
CCleaner	- Incomplete/Invalid Registry Entries - Uninstalls difficult programs - Removes unused files, cleans up storage space	Be careful to not install the Yahoo Toolbar which comes with this.
AusLogics DiskDefrag	- Free disk defragmentation	Much faster than Windows defrag and much more interactive that Vista defrag.
SpyBot Search & Destroy	- Removes Spyware / Adware - Use in conjunction with Adaware	One of the original spyware removal programs and it's absolutely free.  Make sure you update it fully before scanning.
LavaSoft AdAware	- Removes Spyware / Adware	Again, update it fully before scanning.
AVG FREE	- Still free, still the best computer antivirus I've found.	Will nag if used on several computers in a LAN, but still works great.

FireFox	- Web Browser	If you have to ask - you don't need it :)
OpenOffice	- Free Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Powerpoint applications - Opens Microsoft Office documents	A little slow loading initially, but much cheaper than $500 MS Office
Thunderbird	- Email Client	A good alternative to Outlook or Outlook Express

Install the above, run them, and you should be fixed up.
